Hi, I’m Andrew

In addition to being a UX designer, I’m a photographer, dog-owner, and a lover of the outdoors.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong before moving to Southern California for college. During those years I got to explore all the outdoor space that California had to offer. In between weekend camping trips, I studied and received my undergraduate degree in sociology.

In my free time, you can find me taking photos, trying new food and experimenting with new cooking technique, or taking a walk with good music in my ears.

What makes me, “me”.

Having grown up abroad, my international lens affords me unique perspectives to problem solving. My natural curiosity motivates me to take on new challenges as I leverage my background in sociology and research to fully understand issues at their roots. My creative and insightful nature helps me formulate unique solutions that address user needs and business goals, and create compelling narratives to effectively communicate findings to teammates and stakeholders.

I also love to cook, listen to podcasts, and you can find me on the pickleball court almost all the time. A long term goal I have is to visit every single National Park in the US and Canada. I’m handy behind the bar whether it’s coffee or cocktails, and I think “Dinner Party’ is the greatest episode of The Office.

“Andrew has a full stack of skills but his prototyping work really shines. Super professional and on his way to being a world class designer. He's on my very short list of potential hires for our next phase. Scoop him up soon or I will.”

— Kyle Pavlock, Founder & CEO at Mappa

“Andrew was one of my students at the User Experience Design Immersive at General Assembly. Coming into the course, Andrew was a student who had an idea of the kind of designer he wanted to be, thanks in large part to his background in marketing and research methods. But it is always a pleasure as an educator when a student comes in with plans and leaves with a better understanding of themselves and their talents, and that is my experience with Andrew.

He is a strong researcher who is able to dissect a problem from multiple angles, but he was always open to the other parts of the design process. This flexibility and curiosity served him well, as he found himself to be quite adept at interaction design and prototyping, as well! Andrew left the program with a command of the process from start to finish. A strong mind with good execution and a sensitivity to team dynamics and deadlines, I have no doubt that Andrew will thrive in any UX role. He is thoughtful, dedicated, and a positive addition to every team!”

— Rachel Wendte (former instructor)

“Andrew was excellent to work with during a 3-week design sprint. He is a Figma wiz, creating complicated interactions and designs with ease. Figma skills aside, Andrew dives deep into his research and data to identify important trends and find what users need. I have loved working with Andrew and it is clear he will be an important asset to any team he joins.”
